ABOUT THE FACILITATOR

Josh Cavalier is on a mission to bridge the gap between Learning & Development professionals and the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence. His own "aha!" moment arrived in late 2022 when an AI generated a remarkably effective educational video script on his prompt, instantly revealing its potential to revolutionize learning. Drawing on 30+ years of experience, including leading Lodestone Digital to radically improve clients' edtech implementations, Josh now guides organizations through the complexities of AI integration.

Through JoshCavalier.ai, he directly addresses the concerns and opportunities facing L&D. Forget the fear of job loss – Josh argues AI necessitates a shift in roles, amplifying the need for human expertise and insight. He cuts through the myth of "automatic" AI, emphasizing that L&D professionals are crucial collaborators in the process. His focus? Pragmatic strategies and tools that help teams navigate the AI ecosystem, understand human-machine partnership, and significantly increase their AI skills.

Josh makes complex AI accessible and actionable. His training, popular YouTube channel, and the fun, interactive live show "Brainpower" reach thousands, offering easy-to-use methods for working with AI. Committed to the L&D community, he consults, runs workshops, and shares his strategic insights at major industry events (DevLearn, Learning Solutions, ATD ICE), empowering professionals to leverage AI for hyper-personalized learning and greater organizational impact.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

The workshop fee includes the following:

  • A hands-on full-day workshop for entry-level AI users in Learning and Development
  • Food (lunch and light snacks and beverages) will be provided
  • Printed workbook. The workbooks are tied to specific exercises, allowing participants to take notes as needed and reference illustrations
  • A copy of "Applying AI in Learning & Development" released. The book serves as a companion to the experience, allowing participants to go deeper into a topic on their own

Tentative Agenda (Updated 12/2025)

Workshop Agenda – Applying AI in L&D
All exercises are tiered: beginners get guided templates; experienced practitioners design and refine full AI workflows, prompt systems, and simulations.

9:00–9:15 – Kickoff: From “Using AI” to Designing AI Colleagues
See live contrasts between basic prompts and engineered prompt systems, and between one-off outputs and reusable workflows. Set personal goals for the day and choose your depth track (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced).

9:15–10:30 – AI Fluency & Readiness for L&D TeamsBuild practical mental models for how LLMs really work, where they fail, and how to control them. Run a quick AI readiness audit of your L&D stack to surface high-impact use cases, risks, and guardrails.

10:30–10:45 – Break

10:45–12:00 – Designing AI Production Pipelines for L&D
Move beyond tool demos into production-ready workflows: content factories, scenario studios, and performance-support pipelines. Practice advanced prompt tactics—including prompt chaining, vibe programming, and multimodal inputs (documents, screenshots, PDFs).

12:00–12:45 – Lunch

12:45–2:15 – AI-Accelerated Learning Journey Design & Simulation
Use AI to design and stress-test end-to-end learning journeys. Create persistent learner personas and scenario characters, simulate their experience through your journey, and use AI to inject learning science principles like retrieval practice, spaced learning, and feedback loops.

2:15–2:30 – Break

2:30–4:00 – AI Project Studio: Build and Test a Real Workflow
Build a concrete AI-powered solution: such as a scenario-based training system with consistent characters, a content production pipeline, or a performance-consulting copilot. Each project must include at least one advanced element: multimodal input, prompt chains, vibe/voice control, personas, or QA/evaluation prompts.

4:00–4:30 – Showcase & 90-Day AI Action Plan
Share and critique real workflows using a simple impact-and-risk rubric. Leave with a 90-day action plan, a reusable prompt and persona library, and a clear roadmap for embedding AI into everyday L&D practice.
