About Our Speaker
John Fairchild, SAIC is a Game Designer for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) at the Army Game Studio, Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama. John has worked with Game-Based technology since he graduated from Full Sail University, a digital arts college in Orlando FL.
His first experience with Serious Games was managing a startup using Epic’s Unreal Engine for distributed research and interactive demonstration, which resulted in the fielding of two projects to West Point Military Academy. Shortly afterward, John joined the America’s Army team, now known as the Army Game Studio.
Initially filling the role of Level Designer and gameplay scripter, he is now a Senior Designer and the Design Department Manager for SAIC. John has collaborated on and led design efforts to produce two more major versions of the publicly released America’s Army game and numerous Serious Game products based on similar game-based technology.
He is now working with cutting edge technology including the Oculus Rift virtual reality head-mounted display, and Augmented Reality, a technology that superimposes computer-generated images on a user's view of the real world. The Army Game Studio’s continuing mission is to use game technology to support the warfighter, market the Army, and develop the leaders of tomorrow.
