    Job Description

    • Conducts and designs company learning and educational programs relating to management and professional development, on-the-job training, skills readiness, and employee orientation. May also serve as an instructor for employee / leadership development and / or technical training curriculum.
    • Coaches individual employees and managers related to performance, leadership and professional development. Assesses the effectiveness of coaching engagements.
    • Drives curriculum / program design and enhancements.
      • Selects and develops appropriate instructional methods for courses, such as individual coaching, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops.
      • Selects and develops learning aids, such as training handbooks, demonstration models, visual aids, and learning materials.
      • Develops schedules and programs.
      • Coordinates training activities with company management to ensure a smooth, efficient process.
      • Identifies courses that aid development of specific competencies.
    • Researches and recommends services provided by external consultants or organizations. Participates in negotiations and / or administering contract / service agreements. Secures appropriate approval. Participates in assessing the effectiveness and / or partnerships with vendors.
    • Partners with senior management to assess short-term and long-term training needs for business / functional units and their employees.
    • Develops specifications for learning and development equipment and systems, including online learning tools and learning management systems (LMS).
    • Monitors and reports on the effectiveness of training. Recommends appropriate research methods to assess the effectiveness of training.
    • Engages customers in conversations to identify their needs for new / additional programs, courses or services.
    • Provides advice to lower level positions and other functional areas.
    • Leads the work of others (mentors, prioritizes, delegates and reviews assignments).
    • Maintains expert knowledge of the organization, adult learning principles, current trends in employee education, informal learning methods and opportunities to leverage social media.
    • May have responsibility for the performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding development, hiring, firing, performance management, pay increases, etc. for direct reports.
    • May participate in external training events and facilitate training programs for external customers.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Master’s Degree preferred.
    Field of Study: Human Resources, Human Resource Development, Business, Education, Instructional Design or related discipline.
    Experience: 8 or more years of related experience. Completion of a professional designation preferred, appropriate designations could include Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) or an Insurance designation. Experience in the common e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate is preferred.  Certifications from DDI, Franklin Covey, or Achieve Global preferred.

    • Requires prolonged sitting.
    • Requires continuous use of computer.
    • May lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 10 lbs.
    • Requires regular and predictable attendance.
